Privacy Policy

Lux Helper ("we", "our", "us") operates the Lux Helper mobile and web application (the "Service") that connects Hong Kong families with domestic helpers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.

1. Information we collect

Account data. When you sign up we collect your email address, phone number, password (stored as a hash — we never see your plaintext password), and the role you selected (family or helper).

Profile data. Depending on your role, you provide information such as:

Trust verification documents (helpers only). If you choose to upload identity or credential documents (passport, HKID, employment contracts, references), images of those documents are stored in our Supabase storage and sent to Anthropic's Claude vision API for automated field extraction and authenticity checks. We do not sell or use your documents for any purpose other than verifying your profile.

Profile photo processing (helpers only). When a helper uploads a profile or passport-style photo, the image is sent to Replicate's image-processing service for automated background removal so that profile photos display consistently. Replicate processes the image and returns the result; it is not used for any other purpose and is not used for model training.

Contract preparation data. When you proceed to prepare a Hong Kong Immigration Department (IMMD) contract through the Service, we collect and process additional information needed to complete the official forms (ID 407, ID 988A and ID 988B). This includes, depending on your role: the helper's passport details, HKID, residential address (HK and overseas), current and previous employer details, work experience history, immigration status, and declarations; and the family's HKID, residential address, occupation, household income, bedroom count, household members (names, years of birth, relationship), and reason for hiring. Images of source documents (HKID, passport, prior contracts) may be sent to the Claude vision API for automated field extraction in the same way as Trust Score documents. The completed forms are generated as PDFs and stored in our Supabase storage, accessible via time-limited signed links to you, the other party to the contract, and our operations team.

Contract delivery data. If you ask us to deliver signed contract documents via our courier partner, we share the recipient's name, Hong Kong residential address and Hong Kong mobile number with Pickupp for the purpose of scheduling and tracking the delivery.

Interview call data. When you join an in-app video or audio interview, the call is hosted on Daily.co. We share a short-lived room URL and the scheduled time with Daily; we do not record interview calls and we do not store the audio or video. Daily processes the live media stream in accordance with its own privacy policy.

Activity data. We record your swipes, matches, messages, interview bookings and in-app filter preferences to run the matching service and keep your experience consistent across devices.

Device and push data. When you enable push notifications we store an Expo push token linked to your account so that we can send you alerts for messages, matches and interview reminders.

2. How we use your information

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell your personal data to any third party.

3. Third-party services we share data with

We rely on a small number of service providers to run Lux Helper. Data is shared only to the extent necessary for each service's purpose:

Each of these providers has their own privacy practices. We choose providers that meet industry-standard security and privacy requirements.

4. International data transfers

Lux Helper is operated from Hong Kong, but some of our service providers (notably Supabase, Anthropic, Replicate, Resend, Daily.co, Twilio, Google, Apple, Expo, and Vercel) process data in the United States or other jurisdictions. Pickupp processes delivery data within Hong Kong. By using the Service you consent to the transfer of your data to those jurisdictions for the purposes described in this policy.

5. Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from within the app (Profile → Delete account), we permanently remove your profile, photos, uploaded documents, messages, matches, swipes, blocks, reports, interview bookings and push tokens. Some anonymised or aggregated records may be retained for fraud prevention and legal compliance.

Lux Helper is intended for users aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will remove the account.

8. Security

Personal data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted and logged. Row Level Security policies in our database ensure that only you can read and modify your own profile information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app and the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
